Anderson Mill Road Baptist Church, The Mill, Moore – History:
Anderson Mill Road Baptist Church, The Mill, Moore could not have had a more humble beginning. Answering a call to establish a mission on the west side of Spartanburg, Pastor Floyd Loudermilk and his wife Sara gathered a small group of people in their living room in February of 1988.

By the end of that same February, Pastor Loudermilk rented a space in the West Oak Square shopping center at the corner of Reidville and Anderson Mill Roads. Within 10 months the mission’s congregation had grown to 250, its bank account held $90,000 and the budget allocated 10% to missions efforts. It was time to build a church.

The congregation held a groundbreaking on December 4, 1988. The site of the new church was at the corner of Anderson Mill Road and Sundyal (the current site of the church offices), and the church held its first service in the new building on February 4, 1990.

But by 1997, with a growing congregation and its 400-seat capacity pushed to the limit, it was time to think seriously about building again.

The land across Sundyal became available, Anderson Mill Road Baptist Church, The Mill, Moore purchased it in January 1999. They divided the building plan into two phases — a Christian Life Center (CLC) to be built first and a new sanctuary to come later. The CLC opened for church activity on groundbreaking.

Several years later, after expanding to three services in the original sanctuary, construction on the second phase of the building plan began. The congregation held its first worship service in the newly-constructed sanctuary on March 8, 2009.

With packed Sunday morning services and exploding numbers of members and visitors, the time has come for The Mill’s fourth building project. The congregation gathered to break ground for the new sanctuary on August 20, 2017. Once the construction is complete and Anderson Mill Road Baptist Church, The Mill, Moore moves into its final worship center, the building housing the current sanctuary will become a dedicated space for The Mill’s vibrant children’s ministry.
